Restaurant FYN

Restaurant on the 5th floor of Speakers Corner on Parliament Street, where modern African cuisine meets Japan's culinary philosophy of seasonal restraint and respect for each ingredient. FYN — pronounced "fayn" — is inspired by fynbos, the biodiverse plant kingdom unique to South Africa's Cape region. The menu is an emotive reflection of land and sea: tastes, textures, thoughts, and memories.

The team is led by chef founder Peter Tempelhoff, culinary director Ashley Moss, and sommelier and service director Jennifer Hugé. The accolades speak for themselves: FYN has been ranked among The World's 50 Best Restaurants for four consecutive years, placing 37th in 2022 as the best restaurant in Africa, 75th in 2023, 60th in 2024, and 82nd in 2025. In 2023, the restaurant also received the Flor de Caña Sustainable Restaurant Award.

The space is suspended between stillness and energy, a room of quiet contrasts where dark meets light, expansive yet intimate, raw and refined. Situated above the vibrant hub of Cape Town's city centre, FYN offers an elevated, elemental, intentional dining experience.

It’s a real special occasion restaurant. Watch the sunsetting over Table Mountain whilst enjoying their inventive cocktails, the food is superb and wine list is of course immaculate

My dinner suggestion is FYN — local ingredients with an Asian twist.
