Bar Talking to Strangers
Talking to Strangers is designed to spark conversation with fellow patrons over the sounds of hip hop while enjoying world-class drinks. Co-owner Alessandro Galassi handles the music and aesthetics, which feature clashing art pieces, graffiti, moody red lighting, and one wall covered in the signatures of bar owners from around the world.
Co-founder Nicholas Crouse is in charge of the drinks, offering a selection of original seasonal cocktails, signatures, classics, shots, and mocktails. Food draws on the best of American and African cuisine: fries are garnished with chakalaka, and the grilled cheese comes with tomato soup for dipping. As a final thoughtful touch, the menu lists other noteworthy bars on the South African cocktail scene, encouraging further exploration and more conversations with strangers.
