Carla Schulze does not overcomplicate things. As Executive Chef at SALON, her cooking is confident, intelligent, and led by instinct rather than fashion. Working closely with Luke Dale Roberts, she has shaped one of Cape Town's most talked-about restaurants. Born in Johannesburg to an Austrian father and Scottish mother, she grew up around mixed heritage. A top graduate of Jackie Cameron School of Food and Wine, she earned a place at The Test Kitchen. Under her leadership, SALON won Best New Restaurant in Africa (2024) and Restaurant of the Year (2025). Carla is not interested in trends — only in refining dishes and steady leadership.
