The Belly Restaurant Group

Neil Swart is a Cape Town-based chef and restaurateur, and co-owner of The Belly Restaurant Group — behind Belly of the Beast, Galjoen, Seebamboes, and the soon-to-launch Quagga and No Show. Alongside Anouchka Horn, he has helped shape one of South Africa's most distinctive dining portfolios, rooted in memory, locality, trust, and a deep commitment to deliciousness. The group's philosophy begins with nostalgia and a rule: no proteins from outside South Africa's borders. Waste is actively avoided as necessity. Belly of the Beast opened as a tight 20-seater built on trust, with menus created night by night.

Franky Fenner for unbelievable steak, potatoes, and salad. I love how simple and delicious it is. Ask them to put bone marrow on your steak.
Dias Tavern — beer on tap. Go with a friend and order the Joey Special and a peri-peri chicken. Let them cut it up and put it on a platter.
Reverie — great to get to know an owner Julia and let her feed you.
The Gardener's Cottage has a great breakfast and is dog-friendly.
